What To do at the holiday rental

Farniente in the countryside

The simplest but often the most enjoyable leisure activity on holiday.A good book, a deckchair and, in the background, the peace and quiet of the Normandy countryside.The Gîte de la Bannerie is the ideal place for a relaxing break nestling in the middle of nature.

The swimming pool

From July to September, the residence's swimming pool is open to guests staying in the gîte.

Fishing

The gîte was built in the former outbuilding of a water mill.The property is bordered for several hundred metres by the Cance, a small first category river that flows into the Orne. For trout fishing enthusiasts.

Things to do near your holiday rental

Walking and cycling tours

The gîte is located on the edge of the Normandie-Maine Regional Park.This protected natural environment is ideal for charming walks. The Chemin de Grande Randonnée (GR 36) passes just a few hundred metres from La Bannerie. You can follow it or branch off towards the Vrigny pond (the largest in the Orne) and the Sassy forest.

Riding

The Bannerie gîte is less than 10 km from Argentan (Normandy), in the heart of a region renowned for its love of horses.Numerous stud farms and equestrian centres are less than a quarter of an hour away from the gîte by car. Here you can go horse-riding or sign up for advanced training courses.

For horse lovers

Le Haras du Pin (23 km): nicknamed the Versailles of the Horse, the Haras National du Pin extends over more than 1,000 hectares in an elegant setting that will delight horse enthusiasts and novices alike.

For lovers of history and beautiful buildings

The Castle of William the Conqueror in Falaise (30 km): Imposing and majestic, this fortified castle is well worth a visit, as much for its eventful history as for its unique site and architecture.

 

Château de Sassy (8 km): a beautiful eighteenth-century residence with a terraced garden that is as unusual as it is spectacular.

 

Carrouges Castle (18 km): drive around the amazing brick castle that stands guard, cross the bridge over the deep moat and discover the secrets of Carrouges Castle. 

For a trip to the seaside

The gîte de la Bannerie can be used as a base for a day's sightseeing along the English Channel. It is just :

  • 1 h 30 from the landing beaches
  • 2 hours 30 minutes from Mont Saint-Michel
  • 1 h 25 from Cabourg
  • 2 hours from the Cliffs of Etretat
